Sannati was a reputed Buddhist center in Karnataka and its importance as a Buddhist establishment is reinforced by the stupas and monasteries located at nearby settlements of Kanaganahalli, Anegutti, Benagutti, Hasargundgi, etc. Sannatihas been dated to second-third centuries AD on the basis of explored data. However, Debala Mitra is of the view that it was a flourishing Buddhist center between first century BC to third century AD (Poonacha 2011, 161).</td>
