Doctoring Traditions offers an account of how “small” technologies such as the stethoscope, microscope, and thermometer influenced the formation of modern Ayurveda. Projit Bihari Mukharji argues that these interventions changed the conceptual ways in which the body was imagined in Ayurveda and suggests the metaphor of braiding for understanding the dynamic interaction between Western science and Ayurveda
