Abstract: A journalist’s awareness is of time, of timeliness, the significance of the current. The scholar’s eye is caught by recurrence, by patterns forming over time. Amrita Shah discuses how these multiple approaches were brought together for the writing of a city in her book Ahmedabad: A City in the World
