Dear Colleagues:

We are pleased to inform you about the commencement of NIAS Urban Lecture Series 2022- an online event- from June 2022. The series aims to conceptualize urban beyond the city and the binary of urban and rural and formal and informal sector, and forefront some of the invisible areas in the urban scholarship such as sports, cinema, queer, kinship, migrant children, and coastal communities.

While more details of the event are on the way, we are happy to introduce the speakers for the first three sessions: Dr Parul Bhandari (Institute of Social Sciences, New Delhi), Dr Vidya Subramanian (Harvard University), and Prof. Catherine Allerton (London School of Economics).
