Abstract:   Globally we are witnessing the continuing failure of centralized and sectoral planning mechanisms, particularly in cities. The unplanned and unbridled growth of urban areas, massive resource constraints, and continuing dominance of fossil fuel era planning theories which privilege “big pipe “ projects are leading to unsustainable outcomes. This talk will focus on alternate ways of thinking and acting on urban issues and the challenges of altering entrenched mindsets in governance and activism in spatial transformation particularly with reference to Bengaluru.

About the Speaker: Naresh V Narasimhan is the Managing Partner at VA - Venkataramanan Associates, a second-generation multi-disciplinary award-winning architecture firm based in Bangalore. Steeped in values of design quality, integrity, commitment and ethics, VA has held a steady reputation for the design of benchmark projects across typologies since 1969. Naresh trained as an architect at the Manipal Institute of Technology, & further studied risk management at Harvard in 1995.
