Vijayashree C S is a PhD Scholar at the National Institute of Advanced Studies (NIAS) Bangalore. Her current research focus lies in exploring the material culture around the Bhutaradhane practice of coastal Karnataka. As an art historian Vijayashree has close to three years of work experience. Vijayashree has worked for two years as a Research Associate and Archivist on the DST funded Indian Digital Heritage Vijayanagara Murals and IDH Knowledge Bank projects. Earlier she was a researcher and content writer for Artsome, an online resource of contemporary art and artist. Vijayashree’s Bachelor’s degree was in History, Economics and Political Science (Christ University, Bangalore) and Master’s degree was in History of Art (National Museum Institute, New Delhi). She studied the Vijayanagara Paintings as part of her Master’s dissertation. Her other research interests include Folk and Tribal Arts, Folklore, Ritual Objects, Museum Studies, Digital Heritage, and Indian Paintings.
