The School of Humanities encompasses subjects such as philosophy, literature and the fine arts, which concern with humans and their culture as distinguished from the sciences. Research in the School currently focuses on philosophical foundations of sciences including mathematics; scientific and philosophical studies of consciousness; and on the history and philosophy of science. Work is also underway on the analysis of ancient metals, and on translations of literary classics in Kannada into English.
