Philosophy of science is a discipline that has almost exclusively drawn its philosophical tools from ancient, medieval and modern Western philosophical traditions. Two dominant reasons might explain why this is so. One is the prevalent belief that Indian philosophy does not offer a rationalistic discourse and is primarily concerned with religion and spirituality. The other is the confusion engendered by the common geographical origins of modern science and the philosophy practiced in the civilization. the latter argument is obviously fallacious especially since modern science consciously constructed itself in opposition to various philosophical doctrines and methods.
