B. K. Anitha - Associate Professor
School of Social Sciences

Research Interests:
An educationist by training, has engaged in extensive field based research and theoretical analysis on issues related to education and gender. Her current research interests includes higher education, school education, equity and quality in higher education with a focus on science and engineering education; academic leadership, educational management, innovations in higher education and gender, science and technology. Her research work on gender includes gender relations; gender and philosophy; women's rights, women's political participation and domestic violence.

Research Interests:

An educationist by training, Dr. Anitiha comes with 14 years of experience and has engaged in extensive field based research and theoretical analysis on issues related to education and gender. Her current research interests are in the area of equity and quality of higher education with a focus on science and engineering education; academic leadership, educational management, innovations in higher education and gender, science and technology.

Dr. Anitha is specialised in teaching and research. In research, she has been engaged in looking at real world problems and developing conceptual frameworks from across disciplines to be able to understand complex societal process. Developing innovative frame works at the conceptual and methodological level are her particular strengths.

Her earlier research work related to school education with specific focus on community school interaction and intersection of caste, class and gender with education. Her research work on gender includes gender relations; gender and philosophy; women's rights, women's political participation and domestic violence.

Her experience includes locating learning gaps and disabilities. Based on the learning difficulty, she is equipped to design innovative techniques/ methods that help address students problems. She is also trained in using participatory methods, which help to make learning more meaningful in small groups as well as in individualised instruction. Her skills include evaluation of courses, redesigning curriculum based on the objectives and the needs of students. Her strengths are in providing training and in addressing problems of new learners especially the disadvantaged groups who have entered formal/vocational education for the first time
