About the speaker: James Black is Founder and Publisher of Archetype Publications, London a leading international academic publisher in the field of scientific conservation of art and cultural heritage and archaeological conservation.  He is also Founder of International Academic Projects which has been running reputed international conservation Summer Schools at various venues including Institute of Archaeology, UCL, London for several years.  In his publishing work and courses he has collaborated with leading international museums and cultural institutes such as the British Museum, Freer Gallery of Art, Getty Conservation Institute, ICOM, ICCROM and so on. He trained as a metallurgist from Nottingham University and as an archaeological conservator and has also been a lecturer in the past on conservation at Institute of Archaeology, London.
