Smriti Haricharan


Smriti Haricharan is an archaeologist with field experience of 17 years. She has been working on the Iron Age-Early Historic (IA-EH) landscape in southern India since 2006, particularly examining burials of that period. She has also been exploring the perceptions and discourse on archaeology field work in India, as well as the participation of public in archaeology. She has been exploring different ways of disseminating archaeological methods. Her PhD focused on using geological methods to understand site formation process at the IA-EH burial sites as well as the spatio-temporal patterns of these burials on the landscape from the Department of Geology, Anna University, Chennai. Following this she was a Fulbright Post Doctoral Fellow at the Department of Anthropology, University of Chicago. She was Assistant Professor at Shiv Nadar University, Delhi for a year.
